What is the Distinction between Pneumatic Tire and Cushion Tire?
One of the most common questions about this type of equipment is knowing the difference between pneumatic tire forklifts and cushion tire forklifts. Every tire type is specially ideal for various needs.
Similar to tires on a vehicle, pneumatic tires have air in them. These types of tires are suitable for indoor application but they are most useful in outdoor "yard" applications and on gravel and uneven surfaces.
Cushion tires are designed as a solid industrial tire that is used mainly for indoor operation. These tires are able to be used outdoors on just asphalt surfaces. If you do drive cushion tires outdoors, there is an option to get traction tires on the front of the equipment. These are known as the drive tires. The back tires or the steer tires are particularly made for steering. Traction tires situated on the rear of the forklift would just wear out quicker. Therefore, if you do need to work outside, having the smooth tires on the back and traction on the front would be the safest and most economical way to operate.
What is the difference between Air Pneumatic and Solid Pneumatic tires?
When trying to determine the main difference between the two tire types, it could be a bit difficult. They both operate in the same outdoor conditions like asphalt, and gravel. The main difference between the two tire types is solid pneumatics are made of solid rubber. This means they are strong and you cannot gouge, puncture and pop them. These tires are more costly than air pneumatic tires because they are made up of way more rubber. These tires are best suited for places like for example scrap yards and lumber yards where there may be plenty of sharp things and debris on the ground.
The pneumatic tire can be punctured accidentally. You could get flat tires from them when this occurs. Prior to operating a forklift with air pneumatic tires, be sure that the yard is free of sharp metals, nails and scrap debris and by inspecting your work space. In the majority of applications, regular air pneumatic tires work great.
