Types of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
Construction lifts refer to the machinery utilized to enable personnel to locate high-up places without building any scaffolding. They are utilized to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common equipment found in warehouse and factory environment also.
Usually, construction lifts offer powered and wheeled bases that are capable of driving to the work location and have a platform on them that is responsible for lifting employees. There are many different kinds of lifts and every one is suited to various kinds of tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Cherry pickers or bucket trucks, are built with a long boom that has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where a worker could stand. Normally, bucket trucks are used by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers normally use these machinery to trim trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly which is mounted on a standard truck, and this means these lifts could travel on roads at normal traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they could efficiently service. This is particularly important for power companies. Like for instance, many of these companies use cherry pickers to elevate employees up so they can work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets must be checked on a regular basis and insulated well since they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also called "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform that is mounted on an arm which can bend so as to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and could turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are utilized for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-finished projects which do not require easy access to the area right beneath the jobsite. These lifts could be utilized for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, as well as hard to clean areas. Often knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the extended boom.
