In 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case in Racine. He started making threshing machines. The company later gained international recognition as the initial maker of steam engines for its agricultural use. In time, the company grew to become the world's biggest producers of steam engines.
Case had established themselves in the construction machinery business by the year 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building equipment including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction machinery company through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading maker of medium-sized to light-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland during 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising some of the world's top brands of construction and agricultural equipment.
