Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to store supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage areas tidy. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is usually utilized. This particular model has telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in multiple directions. This particular model is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within the majority of warehouses, there are usually more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
